The root of all humor

Ever notice how a root canal appointment can feel like a rollercoaster of emotions? One minute you’re anxious, and the next you’re laughing at a bad tooth joke. Just the other day, a patient asked if I could extract their sense of humor along with the tooth! It’s a tough spot when pain management becomes intertwined with punchlines, but I suppose laughter is the best medicine — unless we’re talking about anesthesia.

, I hear you! Balancing pain management with humor really can feel like a juggling act. I once had a patient joke that their tooth was so bad it should come with a warning label.
