The joys of implanting a tooth

You know you’ve reached a new level of practice when a patient comes in expecting to leave with a crown but instead gets a whole dental implant. I once had a patient joke that he was becoming part cyborg — thankfully, my post-op care of monitoring for osseointegration didn’t involve any wires. Has anyone else had patients come up with amusing takes on their treatments?

I love that your patient went full cyborg! It’s always fun when they start comparing their implants to sci-fi gadgets. I once had someone say they felt like they were getting the ‘bionic smile’ upgrade — gotta love the imagination! Have you had any requests for custom paint jobs on those implants?
