Challenges of Being a Dental Hygienist

I’ve been working as a dental hygienist for over five years, and while I love helping patients maintain their oral health, the job can be pretty demanding. Lately, I’ve noticed an increase in patients with anxiety about dental visits, which adds another layer to the role. I’m curious how others manage these challenges and keep patient comfort a priority.

I totally get what you mean about the increasing patient anxiety. I’ve found that taking a few extra minutes to explain procedures helps a lot; I always tell patients what to expect during the cleaning process. When they know what’s coming, it tends to ease their worries. Plus, incorporating a comforting touch, like a warm blanket, can really make a world of difference.
